MORNING DEVOTION

Morning
“They shall go hindmost with their standards.” — Num_2:31
The camp of Dan brought up the rear when the armies of Israel were on the march. The Danites occupied the hindmost place, but what mattered the position, since they were as truly part of the host as were the foremost tribes; they followed the same fiery cloudy pillar, they ate of the same manna, drank of the same spiritual rock, and journeyed to the same inheritance.

Come, my heart, cheer up, though last and least; it is thy privilege to be in the army, and to fare as they fare who lead the van. Some one must be hindmost in honour and esteem, some one must do menial work for Jesus, and why should not I? In a poor village, among an ignorant peasantry; or in a back street, among degraded sinners, I will work on, and “go hindmost with my standard.”

The rear guard is a place of danger. There are foes behind us as well as before us. Attacks may come from any quarter. We read that Amalek fell upon Israel, and slew some of the hindmost of them. The experienced Christian will find much work for his weapons in aiding those poor doubting, desponding, wavering, souls, who are hindmost in faith, knowledge, and joy. These must not be left unaided, and therefore be it the business of well-taught saints to bear their standards among the hindmost. My soul, do thou tenderly watch to help the hindmost this day.

The Danites occupied a very useful place. Stragglers have to be picked up upon the march, and lost property has to be gathered from the field. Fiery spirits may dash forward over untrodden paths to learn fresh truth, and win more souls to Jesus; but some of a more conservative spirit may be well engaged in reminding the church of her ancient faith, and restoring her fainting sons. Every position has its duties, and the slowly moving children of God will find their peculiar state one in which they may be eminently a blessing to the whole host.

YOU ARE VERY SPECIAL TO GOD

1

Psa 8:4  What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him?

WHO ARE YOU THAT GOD WILL ALWAYS BE MINDFUL OF YOU THINK AND CARE FOR YOU WHAT HAVE YOU DONE THAT MAKE HIM TO BE MINDFUL OF YOU OR CAN YOU PLEASE TELL ONE THING THAT YOU HAVE DONE BEFORE HE BEGIN TO BE MINDFUL OF YOU, THINK ON THIS (SELAH)
Psa 8:5  For thou hast made him a little lower than the angels, and hast crowned him with glory and honour.

NOW HE MADE YOU LITTLE LOWER THAN HIMSELF NOT THE ANGEL ( MESSENGER) HE ALSO CROWN YOU WITH GLORY AND HONOUR THE QUESTION IS WHAT HAVE YOU DONE THAT MAKES HIM TO DO THIS FOR YOU? THINK ON THIS (SELAH)

Psa 8:6  Thou madest him to have dominion over the works of thy hands; thou hast put all things under his feet:
Psa 8:7  All sheep and oxen, yea, and the beasts of the field;
Psa 8:8  The fowl of the air, and the fish of the sea, and whatsoever passeth through the paths of the seas.

HE NOW GIVE YOU DOMINION OVER THE WORKS OF HIS HAND AGAIN, WHAT HAVE YOU DONE FOR HIM TO DO THIS FOR YOU, THINK ON THIS (SELAH).

Exo 20:1  God spoke, and these were his words:
Exo 20:2  “I am the LORD your God who brought you out of Egypt, where you were slaves.
Exo 20:3  “Worship no god but me.
Exo 20:4  “Do not make for yourselves images of anything in heaven or on earth or in the water under the earth.

Exo 20:7  “Do not use my name for evil purposes, for I, the LORD your God, will punish anyone who misuses my name.
Exo 20:8  “Observe the Sabbath and keep it holy.

Exo 20:11  In six days I, the LORD, made the earth, the sky, the seas, and everything in them, but on the seventh day I rested. That is why I, the LORD, blessed the Sabbath and made it holy.

NO CROSS NO CROWN

YOU SHOULD CARRY YOUR CROSS DAILY

CROSS, TO A CHRISTIAN, IS ANY SITUATION THAT YOU PASS THROUGH THAT THE END IS TO GLORIFY GOD

IT IS NOT JUST WHAT YOU SUFFER BECAUSE OF YOUR ERROR OR WHAT YOU FACE IN LIFE BECAUSE OF LACK OF UNDERSTANDING FOR THE BIBLE SAYS MY PEOPLE PERISH BECAUSE THEY LACK KNOWLEDGE

SO THEREFORE, WHATEVER YOU CARRY TO GLORIFY GOD CAN BE REFERED TO AS CROSS

CROSS IS NOT WHAT GLORIFY FLESH

DAILY DEVOTIONAL

Morning
“And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost.” Act 2:4
Rich were the blessings of this day if all of us were filled with the Holy Ghost. The consequences of this sacred filling of the soul it would be impossible to overestimate. Life, comfort, light, purity, power, peace; and many other precious blessings are inseparable from the Spirit’s benign presence.

IT IS IMPORTANT TO MEDITATE ON THE WORD OF GOD DAILY

HOLY SPIRIT CAN BE SEEN AS THE FOLLOWING;

AS SACRED OIL

As sacred oil, he anoints the head of the believer, sets him apart to the priesthood of saints, and gives him grace to execute his office aright. As the only truly purifying water he cleanses us from the power of sin and sanctifies us unto holiness, working in us to will and to do of the Lord’s good pleasure.

AS THE LIGHT

As the light, he manifested to us at first our lost estate, and now he reveals the Lord Jesus to us and in us, and guides us in the way of righteousness. Enlightened by his pure celestial ray, we are no more darkness but light in the Lord.

AS FIRE

As fire, he both purges us from dross, and sets our consecrated nature on a blaze. He is the sacrificial flame by which we are enabled to offer our whole souls as a living sacrifice unto God.

AS HEAVENLY DEW

As heavenly dew, he removes our barrenness and fertilizes our lives. O that he would drop from above upon us at this early hour! Such morning dew would be a sweet commencement for the day.

AS THE DOVE

As the dove, with wings of peaceful love he broods over his Church and over the souls of believers, and as a Comforter he dispels the cares and doubts which mar the peace of his beloved. He descends upon the chosen as upon the Lord in Jordan, and bears witness to their sonship by working in them a filial spirit by which they cry Abba, Father.

AS THE WIND

As the wind, he brings the breath of life to men; blowing where he listeth he performs the quickening operations by which the spiritual creation is animated and sustained. Would to God, that we might feel his presence this day and every day.

Deu 28:7  “The LORD will defeat your enemies when they attack you. They will attack from one direction, but they will run from you in all directions.
Deu 28:8  “The LORD your God will bless your work and fill your barns with grain. He will bless you in the land that he is giving you.
Deu 28:9  “If you obey the LORD your God and do everything he commands, he will make you his own people, as he has promised.

Deu 28:11  The LORD will give you many children, many cattle, and abundant crops in the land that he promised your ancestors to give you.
Deu 28:12  He will send rain in season from his rich storehouse in the sky and bless all your work, so that you will lend to many nations, but you will not have to borrow from any.
Deu 28:13  The LORD your God will make you the leader among the nations and not a follower; you will always prosper and never fail if you obey faithfully all his commands that I am giving you today.

REMEMBER TO OBEY IS BETTER THAN SACRIFICE.
